PERIOD: APRIL - MAY Ubiquitous computing is an innovative paradigm of human-computer interaction, which aims at the integration of technology into everyday objects to share and process information. The course aims at presenting the properties that make an application ubiquitous and at giving hints for designing systems that can support these properties. During the course the main applications will be described according to their historical evolution, and a case study will be analyzed in detail. Students attending to this course are expected to develop competence in designing and implement efficient ubiquitous applications. The audience will have the opportunity to share and discuss opinions and experience on ubiquitous systems. This course is suitable for students interested in both the design and application of ubiquitous computing.

- Introduction to ubiquitous computing - Background and history - Properties of ubiquitous computing: distributed network, implicit interaction, context awareness, autonomy, intelligence - Case of study - Future trends and challenges The final examination consists in a presentation of the student on a research proposal pertaining to the course.
