PERIOD: NOVEMBER - DECEMBER The course aims to provide a complete overview of mathematical models used in particular in the aeronautical field for the study of the problems of interest of flight mechanics and dynamics, applied also to autonomous and unconventional aircraft. The course is also addressed to highlight the characteristics of the model structure based on engineering applications.

History of flight simulation. Applications of flight simulation to industrial and scientific fields. Software simulation environments. Definition and application of mathematical models for flight simulation. Analysis of the dynamic behavior of aircraft in the time and frequency domain. Mathematical models for unconventional aircraft: fixed and rotary wing remotely controlled aircraft systems, multicopters, tiltrotors, tiltwing aircraft, hybrid configurations. Applications to the design of control systems. Validation: flight testing and wind tunnel tests. Integrated simulation (SIL and HIL).

Exam:
In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
