The course aims to highlight and discuss the current challenges, critical issues and opportunities that the encounter between humanities and the emerging scientific methods of architectural and landscape heritage 3d recording can suggest. The comparison of views and the purposes of interdisciplinary collaboration enrich the framework of possible researches and communication scenarios. In particular, a first glance is represented by the point of view of C. Della Coletta. She starts from the phenomenon of Universal Expostions that emerged more than one century ago, reflecting and inviting students to deepen how the representation of the progress of societies has invested all human expressions with social and political purposes. The reconstruction of this collective consensus also passes through the reconstruction of the places that hosted the events, as well as through the recomposition of the complex scenographies made up of ephemeral and no longer existing buildings that characterized the representation of these world fairs. A. Georgopoulos and J.L. Lerma express the second and third points of view respectively. They are Geomatics experts who will highlight firstly the potential of image and range based methods for the precise, rich and accurate geometric description of the existing heritage, the basis for a deep knowledge and often capable, if well addressed, of reconstructing the history of the architectural complex or object of interest. Finally, prof. Lerma will propose the use of multispectral low cost sensors, which today constitute extraordinary means of further investigation, even through anomalies and decay, for deepening the reconstruction of the history of architectural or artistic cultural heritage.
