Decision aiding consists in building up rational models for the representation of complex decision problems and in using logical methods or algorithms of decision support to face the problems. The course wants to deepen the student understanding on the major topics of decision aiding, with emphasis on the ELECTRE methods and the approach of Multiple Criteria Decision Aid. A project work is proposed to generate skills in problem formulation, model structuring and result analysis of the ELECTRE method application.

No prerequisites
No prerequisites
Introduction to decision problems and Multiple Criteria Decision Aid (MCDA), the logical passages from mono to multiobjective optimisation and to Multi-Criteria Analysis (3 hours) The outranking relation and the family of ELECTRE methods. Description and use of two ELECTRE methods for classification (6 hours) The ELECTRE methods for sorting decision problems (3 hours). Multi-criteria modeling, SW tools and their use in relation to organizational decision problems (6 hours). Organisation of the project work and presentation of an example of MCDA approach, from the problem formulation to the analysis of the method application and its results. Result analysis and its two aims: sensitivity analysis for model improvement and robustness analysis of the conclusions (7 hours). The use of the SW tools in the project work was easily oriented in a laboratory in presence, the last years. This time we should use the last lessons to better control the steps of the project work.
