PERIOD: MARCH - APRIL The parametric cost estimation is used from the first phases of aeronautical product development and it is complement to product design. It uses the main aerodynamic, structural, propulsive and system characteristics of the aircraft to estimate its development, production and operating cost. Parametric cost estimation can be used to drive the tradeoff analysis during the product development. In research domain, the parametric cost estimation is used to evaluate the effect of new technologies on the life cycle cost. The academic course will provide the students with the basis and the competence to understand and develop a parametric cost model. The course will be taught in English.
No prerequisite is required
1. Basic concepts of LCC. Life Cycle Cost definition, different LCC for different product type, regulations and handbooks for cost estimation of the aeronautical product 2. Estimating cost models. Cost estimating definition (NASA, DoD, GAO, ISPA), different cost estimating models (analogy, parametric, engineering), estimating cost classes (ICEAA), cost estimation in conceptual/preliminary design, relation between cost estimation and V (top-down, bottom-up approach) 3. Parametric cost estimation models. Work Breakdown Structure, development process of parametric cost estimating model, development of Cost Estimating Relationships and verification through statistical analysis, boundary conditions (social, economic), state-of-the-art models, basis of risk analysis 4. Different use of parametric cost estimation. CAIV, DTC (conceptual design), MDO, evaluation of technologies improvements 5. Development of parametric Cost Estimating Relationships. Real case study
