To be decided CLOSING SEMINAR “The Analogous City”
The aim of this PhD course is introducing the idea of URBAN FORM through 10 cities, 10 maps and 10
scholars/designers/cartographers, from the archaeological maps of 18th and 19th centuries in European
Mediterranean culture until the maps of contemporary Asian cities and the maps using new tools and
criteria (as Space Syntax). The core of the course is devoted to the Italian Masters of Urban Form Analysis:
Saverio Muratori and Gianfranco Caniggia. Each lecture will describe the urban form of a single city and a
single way to represent it, that became iconic and nowadays plays the role of a milestone in the theory and
history of Urban Morphology.
THE COURSE WILL BE HELD IN REMOTE USING VooV PLATFORM (download from https://voovmeeting.com/)
Link will be shared with registered students or on request for each lecture.
