Extended reality (XR) blends the physical and virtual worlds with digital overlays that interact in real-time with real-life objects. XR is an umbrella term that includes Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR); each technology differs in the level of interaction between the virtual and real worlds. Although there are barriers to mass adoption, XR is considered one of the key technologies shaping up the future of healthcare: from the operating room to medical classrooms, from rehabilitation to mental health; for this reason it is an important topic to explore to understand the challenges and future opportunities. The Course will cover the fundamental concepts of XR and will provide a comprehensive outlook and analysis of extended reality technologies and emerging key issues. It will analyze different scenarios, solutions, and new approaches in the healthcare field.
