Architecture in Space relies on some fundamental pillars that are intrinsically interconnected: space sciences, eng!neering, robotics, industriai design, architecture, ergonomics, medicine, psychology, and, last but not least, art. In this course students will learn how to approach this new design challenge taking into account severa! expertise in various research fields and exploring strategies and solutions to settle on the Moon and on Mars on a permanent basis. Doctoral students will be involved in a computational design activity to embed multi-objectives and topology optimization strategies for developing space architecture projects, considering the Moon and Mars environmentāl constraints and the possibility to use robotic autonomous construction systems with in situ resources utilization ISRU. Students will learn how to ca-design in extended reality (XR) and other advanced mixed reality visualization systems.
