The course aims to provide students with: basic understanding of the key interactions between industrial activities and the environment, in the framework of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) and the most recent EU environmental Policies (Green Deal, Circular Economy) ; basic knowledge of the most relevant available technologies (best available techniques for emissions treatment) and voluntary tools (eco-management, eco-labelling, etc.) to improve the industrial processes environmental sustainability.

Basic knowledge of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) and other relevant EU environmental Policies/Directives (Green Deal, Circular Economy, Environmental Impact Assessment) and related key environmental compliance mandatory framework for the industrial sector (permitting procedures and operational management of waste, emissions to air, releases to water) Basic knowledge of the main technologies (BAT – Best Available Techniques) for managing the most significant environmental issues (consumptions and emissions) related to key industrial processes Understanding the key steps for implementing an Environmental Management System (ISO 14001-EMAS) in a company, and its implications with other organizational processes (training, communication, procurement and supply chain, product design, “management of change”, etc.) Basic knowledge of the life cycle approach for industrial processes and products (LCA ISO 14040) and the main voluntary eco-labelling (EU Ecolabel, EPD) and GHG reporting schemes (Carbon Footprint)

Modalità di esame: Prova scritta in aula tramite PC con l'utilizzo della piattaforma di ateneo;
Exam: Computer-based written test in class using POLITO platform;
... Objectives that the examination aims to ascertain: Basic knowledge of the key environmental issues related to industrial processes and most relevant mandatory implications (environmental permits, etc.) for the management and operation of an industrial plant. Basic knowledge of the best available technologies (best available techniques for emissions treatment) and tools (eco-management, eco-labelling, etc.) to improve the industrial processes environmental sustainability The exam will consist in a written test with a combination of multiple choice and open-ended questions, to be carried out using the Exam platform, integrated with proctoring tools (Respondus). During the exam (duration 1 hour) the use of teaching materials is not permitted. The test is deemed passed if a mark of at least 18 is achieved. The maximum mark of the written exam is 30L. No oral test is foreseen.

In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
