The internship is configured as a F-type training activity that can be evaluated in 7-10 Credits (depending on the possibility to choose to attend a 3CFU laboratory) and corresponds to 175-250 hours of engagement with the host institution. The internship takes place in the second semester of the second year of the Master's Degree course and is provided for all students since it is part of the activities to carry out a professionalizing degree thesis. The internship allows the student to carry out a professionalizing activity with a strong applicative content with public and private bodies operating in processes of digital transitions. The training project of the internship must be validated by a company tutor at the host institution and then by a teacher of the course of studies who acts as an academic tutor; the two company and academic tutors will follow the student during his/her internship. During the internship, the student must complete the timesheet with the activities carried out daily. The activity carried out during the internship is the starting point for the choice of the subject matter to be deepened in the Thesis, which involves a commitment of a further 20 credits; the academic tutor of the internship will therefore also be the supervisor of the aforementioned thesis. Students can decide whether to do the internship at: a) an institution or studio of their choice (in Piedmont, in Italy or abroad); b) an institution or study among those identified by the contact person of the internships in the Master’s Degree Course in Digital Skills for Sustainable Societal Transitions. The procedures for choosing and assigning the traineeships and the bureaucratic steps that the student must follow before, during and after the traineeship will be illustrated by the trainee referent at the beginning of each academic year to the students who have included the traineeship in their teaching program. These instructions are also uploaded on the teaching portal under "Internship". Reference professor: Sara Monaci

There are no constraints for the completion of the internship in the Master's Degree. In order to access some internships it is necessary to send in advance to the company tutor or to the staff office of the host institution: the curriculum (European format), a motivation letter and a letter of introduction from a professor of the Polytechnic of Turin or the University of Turin (in English if the internship is abroad).

Additional information Extending the duration of your internship Internships have a given duration (hours) and provide a certain number of credits as specified in the Annual Personal Study Plan. You can extend the duration of your internship (number of hours) by selecting one of the options available in the field “Expected no. of hours”. You can only do this operation before the beginning of your internship and not while you are doing it. In any case, you cannot do more than 900 hours (maximum amount of hours may vary for each study course). Any request to extend the duration of an internship must be decided together with the Host Company. It MUST also be approved by a Polito faculty member (your Academic Tutor or the Internship Coordinator for your degree programme) who may reject your proposal. In this case, you need to make a new proposal and fill out a new “Progetto Formativo”. If your Progetto Formativo is approved, it means that the extension of your internship and the extra hours have been accepted too. At the end of an internship with extended duration, you will see that the internship is recorded in your transcript as follows: INTERNSHIP with standard hours/credits in accordance with the rules of your degree programme (i.e., 6 credits/ 150 hours) plus the annotation “curricular internship extension” with your extra hours/credits. These credits will be recorded in your transcript as credit overload (they do not count towards the 120-credit threshold required for Master’s graduation) Information relating to the IT procedure, that allows the presentation of the training project and tracks its progress until its conclusion, can be found at the following link: https://didattica.polito.it/pdf/Procedura_Lato_Studente.pdf Instructions on the platform through which students can insert their internships project and track/report internship progress until its completion, can be found at the following link: https://didattica.polito.it/pdf/Procedura_Lato_Studente.pdf
