PERIOD: SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER The course aims at providing, in addition to basic notions of spaceflight mechanics and fundamentals of optimal control theory, a survey of methods for space trajectory optimization, with particular focus on indirect optimization of orbit transfers and interplanetary trajectories.
Mathematical analysis. Flight mechanics
Recall of spaceflight mechanics fundamentals. Optimization of discrete systems. Optimal control theory. Direct, indirect and evolutionary optimization methods. Indirect optimization of space trajectories.
