Ingegneria per l'ambiente e il territorio
2024/25
The course intends to provide the technical and policy guiding elements for the realization of projects in the field of environmental engineering, through an integrated approach between different disciplines and the practical development of a project in all its main phases.
The course intends to provide the technical and policy guiding elements for the realization of projects in the field of environmental engineering, through an integrated approach between different disciplines and the practical development of a project in all its main phases.
Environmental engineering projects involve all stages of planning, from the preliminary project to the executive project, both for the construction of new works and/or recovery or adaptation interventions of existing works. Mitigation or interventions concern the works to restore the environment and the territory changed because of human interventions or natural phenomena. Environmental engineering projects are developed with the support of hydraulic and hydrogeological models, water quality models, diffusion of contaminants in the soil and in the atmosphere, ecological models, noise propagation models. The student will acquire a new skills relating to the methods of designing environmental engineering structures and plants, according to the international regulatory. By making use of the theoretical knowledge gained in the previous courses, they will increase their knowledge relating to the formal and technical path of preparing a project. By putting their calculation and design skills to good use, they will be able to prepare the technical documentation necessary to complete a project.

Basic knowledge: Elements of geophysics, geotechnics, hydrology and hydrogeology, knowledge of environmental engineering processes Knowledge of CAD, Matlab or Python
The course will address the following main topics: 1. introduction to the technical standards for design (NTC2018 - "Technical standards for construction, Eurocodes); 2. the main steps and phases of environmental engineering design; 3. from environmental, geological, hydrogeological, geotechnical and geophysical characterization to the project 4a. development of an environmental engineering project, for example a water treatment plant; 5. Drafting of the project according to the Regulations, Laws and Regulations: from the Descriptive Report to the Technical Specifications.

The laboratory activity will be carried out in teams composed of 3-4 students possibly linked to different study paths in order to set up a correct multidisciplinary approach to the design, allowing a sharing of skills and abilities already acquired in the other courses.
The course is organized in: 30 hours of classroom lessons, aimed at developing knowledge for the design of environmental engineering works and plants and the inclusion in the territory of the plants, designed in harmony with the European regulations 30 hours of classroom activity, working in team, for the development of a project of an environmental engineering plant
Slides presented during the lessons are uploaded on the Portale. Examples of projects of plants will be uploaed on the Portale Eurocodes and Technical regulations should be downloaded from the Net or could be counsulted in the libray according to the requirements of the design Text: Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. Gli studenti e le studentesse con disabilità o con Disturbi Specifici di Apprendimento (DSA), oltre alla segnalazione tramite procedura informatizzata, sono invitati a comunicare anche direttamente al/la docente titolare dell'insegnamento, con un preavviso non inferiore ad una settimana dall'avvio della sessione d'esame, gli strumenti compensativi concordati con l'Unità Special Needs, al fine di permettere al/la docente la declinazione più idonea in riferimento alla specifica tipologia di esame.
Exam: Compulsory oral exam;
The exam will consist in the presentation of the projects, developped during the laboratory activity by the groups, and in an oral discussion and defense of the project
In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
