The workshop is offered to N4SIS students. Differently from standard courses about technology and applications of MEMS and sensors, here the aim is a hands-on experience on the commercial MEMS kit Nicla Sense ME: https://www.bosch-sensortec.com/software-tools/tools/arduino-nicla-sense-me/ The students will deepen all the aspects from fabrication technology to sensor integration and AI learning, thanks to the participation to the Workshop of engineers from Bosch and Arduino, in addition to PoliTO tutors and professors.

The students will directly test the performances of a commercial MEMS kit with different sensors and interfacing units. They will be able to apply it to a new real-case application scenario.

Knowledge from previous courses about design and fabrication of MEMS and sensors is required. A basic knowledge about AI learning systems would be useful.

First knowledge the MEMS kit: sensor performances, self-learning protocols, Arduino interfacing. Hacking of the MEMS kit with Bosch sensor experts. Insight on the fabrication process with Bosch fabrication expert. Development of an entire protocol with learning, sensing and actuating activities.

The course is developed through seminars and experimental activities with academic tutors and Bosch sensor experts.

Documentation on tools and methodologies available through datasheets and slides given by the tutors.
