The course aims at introducing and exploring the different processes and technologies to produce sustainable biofuels, in a biorefinery view. The course will thus investigate the energy and non-energy products which can be obtained from various types of feedstocks. Beyond fundamentals, the analysis will focus on industrial solutions and their typical scale and diffusion, covering all transport sectors: road (passenger cars light/and heavy duty vehicles), aviation and maritime (these last two being hard to abate sectors).¿ Students will also get basic knowledge on EU and National policy and regulations that determines technological choices and investments, being transport fuel a policy-driven market.¿ Finally, the relation among sustainable biofuels and Carbon markets will be introduced, being this context under rapid evolution and impacting on the business cases for biorefining.¿
