Il corso si propone di fornire le basi teoriche per comprendere e descrivere il comportamento meccanico dei solidi continui nel caso in cui la deformazione non possa essere considerata infinitesima e quindi occorra una descrizione della cinematica più ricca, in grado di trattare le deformazioni finite. La competenza fornita dal corso (terminologia, concetti e metodi) è utile per situare in un quadro concettuale coerente le teorie sul comportamento meccanico dei materiali e fornisce gli elementi necessari per la comprensione dei metodi di soluzione numerica dei problemi a valori al contorno in ambito non lineare.
The course aims to provide the theoretical basis for understanding and describing the mechanical behavior of continuous solids in the case in which the deformation cannot be considered infinitesimal and a richer description of the kinematics is therefore necessary, capable of dealing with finite deformations. The competence provided by the course (terminology, concepts and methods) is useful for placing theories on the mechanical behavior of materials in a coherent conceptual framework, setting the prerequisites for understanding the numerical methods of solution of nonlinear boundary value problems.
