Insegnare le conoscenze di base sui processi che regolano il clima terrestre, la ricostruzione dei climi passati e approfondire alcune nozioni di modellistica numerica per interpretare le uscite dei modelli numerici climatici.
This PhD course is part of the thematic path "Technologies, Techniques and Methodologies for Sustainable Development" of the PhD programme in Urban and Regional Development (URD).
To teach the basic knowledge about the processes regulating the Earth's climate, reconstruction of past climates and detail some notions of numerical modeling in order to interpret the output of numerical climate models.

Basic notions of maths and physics.
Le principali caratteristiche del sistema climatico terrestre. Radiazione, bilancio energetico e trasferimento radiativo. I feedback climatici. La storia climatica della Terra. I principali modelli climatici. Modellistica del clima a scala globale e regionale. Scenari e proiezioni climatiche per il XXI secolo.
The main features of the Earth's climate system. Radiation, energy balance and radiative transfer. The climate feedbacks. The climatic history of the Earth. The main climate models. Climate modeling at global and regional scales. Scenarios and climate projections for the XXI century.
