Il tirocinio ha come oggetto lo sviluppo di un'analisi, un progetto o un'applicazione a carattere innovativo, relativi ad argomenti coerenti con gli obiettivi formativi del corso di studi, e lo sviluppo di un elaborato scritto conclusivo (Tesi di Laurea). Gli insegnamenti del secondo anno sono distribuiti in modo da poter dedicare un adeguato periodo allo sviluppo del tirocinio.
E' ammesso alla discussione finale lo studente che ha completato il restante percorso formativo. Le attività relative alla preparazione della Tesi di Laurea ed i relativi risultati devono essere presentati e discussi pubblicamente, in presenza di una commissione di docenti che esprime una valutazione del lavoro svolto e della presentazione. La tesi di Laurea e la presentazione devono essere in lingua inglese.
You can do a curricular internship only as an integral part of the final examination. For this reason, you need to request the subdivision of the thesis credits (30 CFU) into 18 CFU Thesis and 12 CFU Internship. Please note that the Thesis and the Internship must focus on the same topic. However, it is recommended to keep the 30 CFU thesis and only include the internship when a thesis agreement with the company/institution can't be found.
To add the internship to your Annual Personal Study Plan, you need to send an e-mail to segreteria.collegioetf@polito.it asking to split the Thesis credits into Thesis and Internship, sending the following information:-
NAME OF THE HOST COMPANY AND OF THE COMPANY TUTOR;
NAME OF THE DEGREE PROGRAMME AND OF THE ACADEMIC TUTOR;
INTERNSHIP DURATION;
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION (4 LINES).
Your request will be forwarded and evaluated by the Internship Coordinator of your degree programme. Please note that the Coordinator will approve only internships that can be considered as true training experiences with a specific planning to be analysed more in depth in the thesis project.
After the approval, the Secretariat will send a communication to the Students Office. At this point you will visualize two modules in your APSP: 12 CFU Internship and 18 CFU Thesis.
You need to wait for the approval before you can start your internship and fill out your Training project.

An end-of- internship report is not required.
Extending the duration of your internship: internships have a given duration (hours) and provide a certain number of credits as specified in the Annual Personal Study Plan. You can extend the duration of your internship (number of hours) by selecting one of the options available in the field “Expected no. of hours”. You can only do this operation before the beginning of your internship and not while you are doing it. In any case, you cannot do more than 900 hours (maximum amount of hours may vary for each study course). Any request to extend the duration of an internship must be decided together with the Host Company. It MUST also be approved by a Polito faculty member (your Academic Tutor or the Internship Coordinator for your degree program) who may reject your proposal. In this case, you need to make a new proposal and fill out a new Progetto Formativo. If your Progetto Formativo is approved, it means that the extension of your internship and the extra hours have been accepted too. At the end of an internship with extended duration, you will see that the internship is recorded in your transcript as follows: INTERNSHIP with standard hours/credits in accordance with the rules of your degree program (i.e. 6 credits/150 hours) plus the annotation “curricular internship extension” with your extra hours/credits. These credits will be recorded in your transcript as credit overload (they do not count towards the 120-credits threshold required for Master’s graduation).

The internship is intended as a curricular activity only as an integral part of the thesis. The activity to be carried out must be agreed with the referent of the course of study. It is possible to request, through the secretary's office, the variation of the career plan and the replacement of the 30 ECTS thesis with 12 CFU of internship and 18 CFU of thesis. This request is approved by the referent of the study course if agreed and considered appropriate with the training course.
Gli studenti e le studentesse con disabilità o con Disturbi Specifici di Apprendimento (DSA), oltre alla segnalazione tramite procedura informatizzata, sono invitati a comunicare anche direttamente al/la docente titolare dell'insegnamento, con un preavviso non inferiore ad una settimana dall'avvio della sessione d'esame, gli strumenti compensativi concordati con l'Unità Special Needs, al fine di permettere al/la docente la declinazione più idonea in riferimento alla specifica tipologia di esame.

In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
