This module focuses on the methodological aspects of research and aims at supporting the development of the Master's Thesis. It intends to provide students with knowledge on tools supporting thesis drafting, facilitate the organization of activities with supervisors, and develop team-working skills. The involved supervisors come from various disciplines and propose a portfolio of research topics that students can rank and apply to. Each supervisor proposes a specific educational path that supports the development of the thesis. The path includes theoretical insights, training sessions on software and platforms for accessing information and data. Various aspects of academic research are covered, including the formulation of research questions, literature review, data collection and analysis, and academic writing. Additionally, the seminar promotes a critical and systematic approach to research, encouraging students to develop analytical skills and to formulate innovative solutions to research problems.

At the end, students will have deepened their understanding of general methods for drafting a thesis and of the specific tools supporting their topic development. Students will acquire: - the ability to expand, update, and apply the knowledge and technical skills learned during their studies to address complex and articulated research topics; - the ability to employ an appropriate methodological approach in designing and organizing a research project; - the ability to integrate theoretical and practical insights from different disciplines that emerged during the module activities.

The student must possess adequate preparation and fundamental knowledge of the disciplines covered in the first and second level study courses. To participate, it is necessary to have completed 72 CFU. Students will apply in response to a call that opens before the start of classes in each semester; they will be admitted after a selection process (see the "Organization" section).

The module involves various disciplines from the Management Engineering program. Each supervisor will define a specific path with the aim of developing the thesis project, thanks to the application of the appropriate method and the identification of the fundamental notions on the research topic.

The application process requires students to include the 16-CFU Thesis module in their career plan. If students are selected, the module will be replaced with "Thesis Seminar" and the 10-CFU Thesis by the administrative office. Each supervisor organizes activities independently or, in the case of shared content, in collaboration with other colleagues.

... The exam is passed if the student participate in the activities indicated by the supervisor and respect the deadlines agreed with the supervisor. No grade is assigned. In case of failure, the student will exit the "Thesis Seminar" path and access the traditional 16 CFU Thesis.
