Durante il corso verranno mostrate tecniche e applicazioni della geomatica relative al:
• monitoraggio strutturale e al controllo dei rischi naturali;
• sistemi integrati di monitoraggio del territorio e delle strutture basati su tecniche terrestri, mobile mapping system e utilizzo di UAV;
• implementazione di analisi multi-temporali per il controllo delle aree soggette a rischi naturali (in particolare legati a dissesti idrogeologici, attività tettoniche);
• controllo di strutture attraverso tecniche topografiche terrestri (stazioni totali robotizzate, laser scanning, livellazioni) a supporto di modelli di valutazione del comportamento delle strutture e dello stato di danneggiamento
• applicazioni speditive di video ispezione georeferenziata che possono essere necessarie in infrastrutture stradali e ferroviarie al fine di capire se ci sono fessurazioni e che dimensioni hanno, se ci sono distacchi del manto di protezione superficiale o presenza di umidità (tramite dati multispettrale iperspettrali e termici)

During the course, some Geomatics techniques will be described. In particular, it will be shown applications related to:
• structural monitoring and control of natural risks;
• integrated systems for monitoring the territory and structures based on terrestrial techniques, mobile mapping systems, the use of UAVs;
• implementation of multi-temporal analyses for the management of areas subjected to natural risks (in particular related to hydrogeological instability, tectonic activities);
• control of structures through terrestrial topographic techniques (automatic and robotic total stations, laser scanning, spirit leveling) to support models for assessing the behavior of structures and their state of damage;
• expeditious georeferenced video inspection for road and railway infrastructures to understand if
there are cracks (and what size they are) or to analyze their conditions (e.g., presence of humidity using hyperspectral and thermal multispectral data)
The course has a paper-based approach.
Conoscenze base delle principali tecnologie e tecniche geomatiche (es. SfM, LiDAR, GNSS).
Basic knowledge of the main geomatic technologies and techniques (e.g., SfM, LiDAR, GNSS).
Il corso sarà diviso in tre principali moduli di 10h cadauno:
1. Tecniche geomatiche di monitoraggio strutturale: verranno descritte e mostrate alcune tecniche geomatiche di monitoraggio per l’ingegneria strutturale, comprendenti l’uso di strumentazione GNSS e inerziale (accelerometri e giroscopi)
2. Tecniche di monitoraggio del territorio: verranno descritte, affrontate e analizzate tecniche geomatiche per il monitoraggio del territorio, quali sistemi laser scanner (sia terrestri che aerei o manuali e sistemi mobile mapping), fotogrammetria terrestre o aerea oltre che l’utilizzo di droni per il trasporto di sensori (quali camere fotogrammetriche, termiche, multispettrali ed iperspettrali) utili a raggiungere gli scopi precedentemente descritti. Particolare attenzione verrà rivolta all’analisi di significatività degli spostamenti stimati, argomento molto importante per una corretta identificazione di cedimenti, movimenti e deformazioni. Tale corso affronterà anche gli aspetti relativi all’analisi multi-temporale dei dati acquisiti.
3. Analisi statistica di progetto delle sessioni di misura ed analisi di inferenza sui risultati ottenuti. Principi di machine learning per il monitoraggio.
L’attività didattica è svolta in parte con lezioni frontali, in parte ai laboratorio per il trattamento dati e sono previste anche delle esercitazioni esterne (per un totale di circa 6 ore) durante la quale gli studenti possono avere un riscontro pratico di quanto mostrato durante la parte teorica.
The course will be divided into three main modules of 10h each:
1. Geomatics techniques for structural monitoring: some Geomatics techniques related to structural monitoring will be described and shown, including the use of GNSS and inertial instruments (accelerometers and gyroscopes);
2. Monitoring techniques for land and territory: geomatics techniques useful for land monitoring will be described, addressed and analyzed, such as laser scanner systems (both terrestrial and aerial or manual and mobile mapping systems), terrestrial or aerial photogrammetry as well as the use of drones for the transport of sensors (such as photogrammetric ones, thermal, multispectral and hyperspectral cameras) useful for achieving the purposes previously described. Particular attention will be paid to the statistical analysis of the significance of the estimated displacements, a very important topic for the correct identification of movements and deformations. This course will also address aspects related to the multi-temporal analysis of the collected data;
3. Statistical analysis and inference on the obtained results. AI principles for photogrammetric data classification.
The teaching activity is carried out with lectures and lab activities for data processing and analysis. Moreover, external measurement campaigns are also provided (for a total of about 6 hours), during which students can get practical feedback on what is shown during the theoretical part.
