L’insegnamento è pensato come contributo collegiale da parte di docenti a rotazione del settore concorsuale CEAR-12 (ex 08/F1, pianificazione urbanistica), che introducano temi a metodi diversi trattati e applicati in tale raggruppamento. L’idea è pertanto che l’insegnamento possa essere replicato ogni anno con docenti diversi e possa eventualmente essere frequentato anche in più annualità da un* stess* dottorand*.
This PhD course is part of the thematic path "Spatial Planning, Evaluation and Management" of the PhD programme in Urban and Regional Development.
The course is designed as a collegial contribution by rotating professors from the CEAR-12 sector (formerly 08/F1, urban planning), who introduce topics with different methods covered and applied in this grouping. The idea is therefore that the course can be repeated every year with different professors and can possibly be attended in more than one year by the same doctoral student.

Knowledge of the main functions of territorial governance and spatial planning.
Per l’a.a. 2025-26:
- Tutti: Introduzione (1 ora)
- UJR: Come comprendere, analizzare e confrontare i sistemi di governo del territorio (3 ore)
- CC: La questione ambientale nella pianificazione - Radici e approcci. Analizzare criticamente il significato che l’ambiente ha assunto nei discorsi e nelle pratiche in urbanistica, per meglio affrontare il necessario posizionamento nell’attuale temperie (3 ore)
- CG: Il piano urbanistico comunale in Europa. Funzioni, forma, dotazioni (3 ore)
- IV: Critical Urbanism. Come leggere e interpretare le sfide che attraversano le città contemporanea? La rappresentazione spaziale e il progetto rappresentano strumenti utili per comprendere la complessità dei fenomeni urbani (3 ore)
- EV: Mobilità e accessibilità urbana e territoriale: come si legano allo spazio insediato, ai suoi usi e al suo governo, attraverso diverse scale, chiavi di lettura e pratiche di pianificazione (3 ore)
- GC: Comprendere e analizzare meccanismi e impatti ascrivibili all’Europeizzazione del governo del territorio, ossia all’insieme di influenze reciproche che intercorrono fra la governance territoriale dell’Unione Europa e i sistemi di governo del territorio (3 ore)
- Tutti: feedback ai saggi de* dottorand* (1ora)
For the academic year 2025-26:
- All: Introduction (1 hour)
- UJR: How to understand, analyze and compare land governance systems (3 hours)
- CC: The environmental issue in planning - Roots and approaches. Critically analyze the meaning that the environment has assumed in urban planning discourses and practices, to better address the necessary positioning in the current climate (3 hours)
- CG: Municipal urban planning in Europe. Functions, form, facilities (3 hours)
- IV: Critical Urbanism. How to read and interpret the challenges that contemporary cities face? Spatial representation and design are useful tools to understand the complexity of urban phenomena (3 hours)
- EV: Urban and territorial mobility and accessibility: how they are linked to the settled space, its uses and its governance, through different scales, interpretations and planning practices (3 hours)
- GC: Understanding and analyzing mechanisms and impacts attributable to the Europeanization of territorial governance, i.e. the set of reciprocal influences that exist between the territorial governance of the European Union and the systems of territorial governance (3 hours)
- Tutti: feedback on the essays of the PhD students (1 hour)

L’insegnamento è pensato per essere replicato ogni anno con docenti diversi del settore concorsuale CEAR-12, che introducano temi a metodi diversi trattati e applicati in tale raggruppamento. Pertanto l’insegnamento, che potrà essere frequentato anche in più annualità da un* stess* dottorand*, introduce temi e metodi che non saranno più trattati d gli altri insegnamenti o, al contrario, saranno approfonditi in seguito con ben altro grado di dettaglio.
The course is designed to be repeated every year with different teachers from the CEAR-12 sector, who introduce different topics and methods treated and applied in this grouping. Therefore, the course, which can be attended even in more than one year by the same doctoral student, introduces topics and methods that will not be treated in other courses or, on the contrary, will be explored in depth later with a much higher level of detail.
