Guests Lectures: -Vladimir Lojanica (University of Belgrade) is a Serbian architect and Full Professor at the University of Belgrade, where is currently the Dean of the School of Architecture. He is the founder of the Belgrade-based practice Studio Proaspekt. His work focuses on contemporary architectural design and pedagogy. He has received several national and international awards for architectural excellence. -Zhang Li (Tsinghua University) is a Chinese architect and Professor at Tsinghua University, where is currently the Dean of the School of Architecture. He is Principal of TeamMinus and engages in research-based design. He’s the Chief Editor of the magazine “World Architecture”. His work explores sustainable urbanism and cultural continuity, and he has represented China in major international architecture exhibitions. On the occasion of the centenary of the School of Architecture at Politecnico di Torino, an extensive reflection is underway on the history and identity of the School, with the direct involvement of PhD candidates. This milestone becomes an opportunity not only to study a century of teaching and research, but also to critically reassess the cultural foundations, institutional transformations, and intellectual trajectories that have shaped architectural education in Torino and beyond. Building on these roots, the course aims to contribute to a broader discourse on architectural pedagogy by engaging with professors who have innovated this field through both their institutional roles and their scientific work. By discussing experiences, methodologies, and theoretical positions, the course highlights how architectural education has been continuously redefined in response to social change, technological advancement, and shifting professional frameworks. Participating doctoral candidates will conduct research on schools of architecture around the world, analyzing how teaching models have evolved over the past 100 years and how innovation in education is currently being addressed. The goal is to foster a deeper understanding of how architecture is taught, imagined, and transmitted across generations and cultural contexts.
