The internship leads the student to apply the knowledge and methodologies acquired in the first three terms and to expand her/his knowledge at a very deep level within a well-defined research problem in physics of complex systems, chosen in agreement with the supervisor. The training, guided by the supervisor, is typically based on the study of recent scientific publications. The work, under the supervisor's guidance, helps the student to develop autonomy and, together with the Spring College, to orient her/his future choices. The Spring College completes the programme, introducing the student to a selection of current research topics in the physics of complex systems. The activity is open to master and PhD students from any country. The topics covered, as well as the teachers, vary from year to year. The Spring College leads the student to apply the knowldge acquired in the courses of the first three terms and, together with the internships, is particularly important in helping the student o orient her/his future choices, which could be towards the job market or towards a PhD program.

In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
