L'insegnamento si propone di fornire le basi teoriche per comprendere e descrivere il comportamento meccanico dei solidi continui quando la teoria delle deformazioni infinitesime non è più adeguata e si rende necessaria una descrizione cinematica più generale, capace di tener conto delle deformazioni finite. La terminologia, i concetti e i metodi introdotti forniscono un quadro concettuale coerente per la formulazione di teorie del comportamento meccanico dei materiali e pongono le basi per la comprensione dei metodi numerici per la soluzione di problemi al contorno non lineari.
The course aims to provide the theoretical foundations for understanding and describing the mechanical behaviour of continuous solids when infinitesimal deformation theory is no longer adequate and a more general kinematic description is needed to account for finite deformations. The terminology, concepts, and methods introduced in the course provide a coherent framework for the formulation of theories of the mechanical behaviour of materials and lay the groundwork for understanding numerical methods for solving non-linear boundary value problems.
