The course aims to provide PhD students with foundational knowledge of the most relevant frameworks and reference models for their academic path. It is designed for doctoral students who do not share a common background or who may have limited familiarity with the content and evolution of both older and more recent models. During their first two years, PhD students are required to make fundamental choices regarding the theoretical models and interpretative frameworks that best fit their research project. The course intends to support students in this process. Clearly, the course will not cover all possible theoretical frameworks and reference models. The proposed selection, which rotates every two years, focuses on content considered relevant for students in the PhD program in Management and Production Engineering, while also being potentially of interest to students from other programs from an interdisciplinary perspective. Some of the models will be presented by the lecturers, while others will be developed by the students themselves following individual or group work activities. During the lectures, efforts will be made to provide examples of concrete research studies conducted using each of the frameworks covered in the course.
