Uno degli obiettivi principali dell'insegnamento sarą individuare e spiegare i principali termini tecnici utilizzati nella scienza dei materiali e nelle ingegnerie, analizzando come vengono tradotti e utilizzati nelle lingue inglese, italiano e cinese, con particolare attenzione alle possibili discrepanze o ambiguitą terminologiche. Potrą rivelarsi molto utile per favorire una comunicazione pił efficace e consapevole nei contesti internazionali, soprattutto in ambito accademico e industriale.
One of the main objectives of the course will be to identify and explain the main technical terms used in materials science and engineering, analyzing how they are translated and used in English, Italian and Chinese, with particular attention to potential terminological discrepancies or ambiguities. This could prove very useful for promoting more effective communication in international contexts, especially in academia and industry.

Basic English knowledge
Le lezioni comprendono testi, vocabolario (identificazione di termini tecnici), esercizi e materiale di lettura. Sono previste 15 lezioni in totale. I testi selezionati includono modelli di frase, testi principali e conversazioni. L'argomento della conversazione simula un contesto linguistico reale e allena le capacitą di ascolto e di espressione orale degli studenti per lo svolgimento del loro lavoro di ricerca scientifica., Sono stati selezionati per lo studio i modelli di frase di uso comune.
Obiettivi:
- identificare i termini chiave della scienza dei materiali nelle tre lingue
- analizzare le nomenclature standardizzate relative alle differenti tipologie di materiali e alle tecniche di lavorazione
- analizzare la struttura della letteratura scientifica cinese confrontandola con quella delle altre due lingue con il fine di produrre un glossario di termini utili alle attivitą di ricerca dei dottorandi.
Basic teaching includes texts, vocabulary (identification of technical terms), exercises and reading. A total of 15 lessons are planned. The texts include sentence patterns, main text and conversation. The topic of the conversation simulates a real linguistic context and trains students' listening and oral expression skills for carrying out their scientific research work. Commonly used sentence patterns were selected for the study.
Objectives:
- identify key materials science terms in the three languages
- analyze the standardised nomenclatures relating to the different types of materials and processing techniques
- analyze the structure of chinese scientific literature comparing it with that of the other two languages with the aim of producing a glossary of terms useful to the research activities of PhD candidates.
