Objectives of the course
This course gives students basic knowledge of the history of architecture from ancient age to nowadays. For each historical period, the main events and works will be analysed in depth, focusing on Europe.
Expected skills
Students will acquire methodological instruments required for the following courses of history of architecture. They will be able to study architectures and hisotrical units, within knowledge projects.
The following topics are studied under their methodological aspects:

- Historical periodization.

- Knowledge of instruments, focusing on different historical periods, such as sources, documents, essays, reviews, drawings, projects, photos, etc.

- Analysis of some important architectures built in Europe between the ancient era and the contemporary period, studying different aspects: architect/architects, form, structure, models, programs, clients, building yard and context.
