Objectives of the course
The general task of the course is to give basic concepts suitable for understanding those cultural processes which accompanied 'and often significatively influenced' the evolution of industrial science and technology, from its beginning (in the XVIIIth and XIXth century) till the latest achievements (signed by the rise of new paradigms concerning 'on demand' production, as well as 'non linear' and 'network based' process management ).
 Origins of industrialisation.
Methodological principles of modern science. Their role to foster conversion from craftsman working techniques to basic manufacturing technologies that characterise modern industrial production.
 From positivism to Taylorism.
Items of the positivistic methodological approach. Its impact on the framework of scientific research. New understanding of artificial and modifications of its relationship with natural. Cultural implications of the development of automatic control devices.
 The revolution of cybernetics.
Homeostasis and positive feedback. Rationalism and linguistic turn in epistemology; constructivism. Statement of systemic and e complex properties of knowledge. Methodological assumptions of industrial processes concerning the just in time and lean production paradigms.
