The course teaches the fundamental tools for analysis and processing of deterministic and random signals.

Deterministic and continuoustime signals and systems
' Definition of energy and power ' Fourier analysis: series and transforms ' Energy and power spectrum; autocorrelation functions ' Periodic signals and their spectrum ' Continuoustime linear and timeinvariant systems: impulse response, convolution, frequency response ' Filters ' Sampling theorem Continuoustime random processes ' Fundamentals of continuoustime random processes ' Statistical characterization: probability density functions, ensemble averages, autocorrelation ' Stationary and cyclostationary processes ' Spectral analysis of stationary processes; power spectral density ' Statistical characterization of filtered random processes ' Ergodic processes ' Processes frequently used in communications: Gaussian processes, white and colored Gaussian noise, data transmission processes ' Models of communication channels
