Objectives of the course
This course introduces the basic concepts of information theory (applied to channel coding) and digital modulations.

2. Information source, Information content, entropy and its properties
3. Entropy rate ofstationary source
4. Fixed and variable length source coding
5. Coding efficiency, Shannon's theorem
6. Huffman Lempel-Ziv, and arithmetic coding
7. Typical sequences, asymptotic equipartitions property
8. Discrete communication channels
9. Mutual information, conditioning and concatenation rules
10. data- processing theorem.
11. Shannon's theorem on channel coding (direct and reverse)
