Objectives of the course
The course aims to introduce to technical writing and to the general writing process. It investigates the role of writing in various professions. It teaches students to plan and organize written texts. Emphasis is on knowledge and use of Italian grammar, especially mechanics and punctuation. The goal is to encourage students to write technical papers with conciseness, clarity and persuasiveness.
Prerequisites
Italian language. On demand, English, France and Spanish are also allowed.
Syllabus
The course is an introduction to technical writing and is designed to improve writing skills in general. Emphasis is on special problems that the technical writer faces:
Use documentation sources
Plan and organize the acquired information
Write paragraphs
Analyse and describe objects and processes
Write drafts and check for review.

D. Corno, Scrivere e comunicare. Teoria e pratica della scrittura in lingua italiana. Milano: Bruno Mondadori, 2002 (beginners)
G. Matricciani, Fondamenti della comunicazione tecnico-scientifica. Milano: Apogeo, 2003 (experts).
Revisions / Exam
written examination, oral examination optional. Students write a total of approximately 3000 words in exercises and three class tests.
