Objectives of the course
Semiconductor physics basics. Semiconductor planar technology. Analysis of the main bipolar devices. Operating principle of the MOSFET and MOS technologies. Large-signal concept in nonlinear devices. Small-signal and linearization concept. Transistor as a switch. Semiconductor memories: technologies and operation.
Semiconductor Physics.
The module delas with the study of the main electronic devices and technologies. The structure of the course is based on the following topics:
- Semiconductors: physics and charge transport models
- Planar technology: oxidation, doping and photolitography
- Semiconductor junctions: diode and bipolar transistor, bipolar transistor as a switch
- MOS structure: physics and technology
- MOSFET transistor: operating principle and large- and small-signal models
- CMOS integrated circuits technology
- Technology and devices for semiconductor memories
