Objectives of the course
This course has been designed to introduce students to the fundamental principles involved in the management of organizations. Specific emphasis is placed on setting the organization in its economic environment and on the main issues involved in management and organization theory and practice.

Macroeconomic elements.
Markets analysis.
Functions of management and dynamic relationships.
Analysis of the main parameters of the business environment.

Financial Accounting Principles
Basic concepts of financial accounting.
Conventional measurement techniques and reporting procedures
Preparation of the major financial statements.
Financial statement analysis and presentation.

Cost Analysis
Cost classification, accounting and behaviour.
Costing systems and cost control.
Use of cost data for decision-making purposes.

Investment Analysis
Cash Flow Analysis.
Capital budgeting investments.
Long-term investment decisions and evaluation.

Principles of Management
Nature and role of management.
Managerial Economics Models.
Total Quality Management.
Customer Satisfaction policies.
Benchmarking: principles and rules.
Continuous Improvement an d Re-engineering process.

Outsourcing Management.


The methods and techniques covered in this course are applied to the analysis of practical case studies. Practical experience using data sets, lectures, case discussion, projects and technical supplements.
