Objectives of the course

The course explores the problems and the project methodology related with complex electronics systems with particular emphasis on programmable systems. The course provides the basics to understand and use programmable electronic components such as DSP and FPGA in complex embedded computing architectures and related high level programming languages.
- Programmable logic devices (PLD, FPGA)
- High level programming languages (Verilog, VHDL)
- Embedded systems
- High-speed interconnection systems
- Sensors/actuators interfaces
- Electronic systems: project fundamentals
Laboratories and/or exercises
Students are organized in groups during exercises. Each argument will be exploited also in labs using ALTERA boards equipped with state-of-the-art programmable devices and interface circuits (A/D and D/A converters). Each group must provide a complete report for each exercise in labs.
