Objectives of the course
Provide students with the know-how to design completely an electronic system for automation, made of digital and analogic subsystems strictly interacting. Provide students with the know-how required to select the components, the appropriate schematics, the best board layout, to analyze costs and to edit an effective documentation
Introduction to course; signal types (voltage, current, pneumatic), logic levels and analogic ranges; industrial standards. Guided design of a 4-20mA ' TTL comparator.
Driving ON/OFF outputs; BJT, rel่, npn, pnp, optoisolators, high-side and low-side MOS.
Guided design of an ON/OFF temperature sensor with pnp output.
Analogic signals; active and passive 4-20mA drivers(2/3 wires)
Guided design of a light sensor 0-1000lux; component selection, design of voltage to 4-20mA, 2 wires converter, input protections of analogic signals, computing offset and errors
Power analogic outputs; PWM bridges: 1/2, H, poliphase
Guided design of a PWM driver for 24VDC motor
Memory maps, input and output interfaces, decoders, latch, three-state
Guided design of a rotating lights systems with a PIC
PLC; base instructions, flip-flop, latches, shift register, decoder; advanced instructions
Guided design of a stepper controller with PLC
Electronic for automation processes; IN, OUT, EX, 3-15psi modules, optocouplers, magneto thermal protection, electric panels; removing heat
Guided design of an industrial control system
Laboratories and/or exercises
Eagle for PCB; design of PCB for sensors. Control of a stepper motor with PLC. Mounting light sensor and testing
Revisions / Exam
Written; alternatively individual homework. Final mark will also take into account the evaluation of documents written and processed by the student during classes
