Objectives of the course
The course offers the students the chance to face real network configurations and test. Through the setup of simple test-beds, the students will critically build and analyze different network configurations, in order to deeply understand the different possible scenarios of commonly used Internet configurations. The goal is to critically recall all the concepts, methodologies and protocols studied in previous classes.
Basic knowledge of telecommunication networks.
Several laboratory test-beds allow students to perform different experiences:
- A brief introduction to the lab and to the instrumentation available.
- Host configuration: user level experience
- Host configuration: network level experience
- Static routing test-bed: configuration of different subnets using static routing only
- Dynamic routing test-bed: configuration of different subnets using either RIP of OSPF.
- Performance analysis of different network topologies and configurations.
