Objectives of the course
The course provides the basic concepts on wave guide propagation. The propagation mode concept is introduced in the context of multiconductor transmission lines. Finally, the radiation of electromagnetic waves is studied and the main types of antennas are presented.
01EKSCJ Radiofrequency techniques I
' Multiconductor transmission lines: Propagation modes, modal lines, circuit analysis
' Metallic wave guides: Prpagation modes and their characteristics. Rectangular and coaxial wave guides. Discontinuities: irises. Losses and sources. Description of some microwave components.
' Radiation and antennas: Elementary dipoles and half-wave dipoles. Horns and parabolic antennas. Antenna arrays. Printed antennas
Laboratories and/or exercises
Measurement of scattering parameters of microwave components by a network analyzer.
Slotted line impedance measurement.
Measurement of an antenna radiation pattern
