Objectives of the course
Become acquainted with some of the most important classes of antennas for professional wireless communications, both terrestrial and spatial, and with their impact on communication systrems; experience some analysis and design techniques through practical examples.
Syllabus
I. Review of antenna fundamentals and antenna requirements in systems
II. Aperture-type antennas: horn antennas, Slots, Reflector antennas
III. Wire and broadband antennas: biconical antenna, dipoles, Yagi-Uda, loop; self-similar antennas.
IV. Integral-equation, moment method analysis of antennas
V. Printed antennas (microstrip).
VI. Arrays
