Objectives of the course
The course provides the basis of the main simulation techniques employed in the field of telecommunication networks analysis and design. In particular, the course focuses on discrete-event simulation.
Basic knowledge of telecommunication networks.
The course is devoted to the following topics:
- Introduction to simulation techniques
- Classification of simulators
- Discrete-event simulators
- Pseudo-random number generators
- Techniques to generate random variables
- Statistical tests on pseudo-number generators
- Confidence intervals
- Techniques to deal with he initial transient
- Examples of simulators for telecommunication networks analysis and design
Banks, Carson, Nelson, Nicol, 'Discrete-event System Simulation,' Prentice Hall ed.
Slides of the lessons will also be provided.
Revisions / Exam
written examination, and report on the work assigned in the lab.
