Objectives of the course
The course is hold in the form of a multidisciplinary Studio (Laboratorio) and therefore it integrates several disciplines. It aims at making students aware of the problems of the planning and implementation problems related with the integrated programmes dealing with local development and urban and environmental regeneration. These programmes include and integrate physical, economic, social and cultural actions, with a special attention to sus¬tain¬able urban development goals, and need participation processes. It lasts all the year and it ends with a unique exam.
Expected skills
- Knowledge of urban regeneration and local development policies and of the integrated programming tools;
- Knowledge in the field of social participation tools;
- Knowledge in the field of the economic feasibility of programmes and projects;
- Ability to produce analyses of the involved territory and its resources, aimed also at justifying the programme choices;
- Ability to define goals, contents and components of an integrated programme or to critically analyse goals, contents and components of an existing programme, ability to analyse its impacts on the urban contest and its relations with the existing plans;
- Ability to develop autonomously parts of the programme, ability to design parts of the physical transformations foreseen by the programme and ability to verify their feasibility;
- Ability to communicate and discuss the defined proposals with different communication techniques (written, oral, graphic), to communicate also with non–expert actors, and to use participation techniques.
Established knowledge in the field of urban planning tools, of the urban design techniques and of spatial analysis tools by means of statistics and the use of GIS
