Basic knowledge concerning d.c. electric drives

Syllabus
Definition of electric drive.
General structure of electric drives.
Electric drives for spindle and axis applications.
Hard magnetic materials and their application in electric motors.
Safe operating area (magnetic and thermal limits) of servomotors in the T, 'w plane.
Dynamic model of the d.c. motor.
Torque control for d.c. motors.
Speed control for d.c. motors.
Analysis of d. c. servomotors characteristic by data sheets.
Speed and position transducers (tacho generator) and analysis of the torque ripple and mechanical resonances.
Test of d.c. electric drives.
