Objectives of the course
The focus of this course is on modeling, design and optimization of the physical level of wireless transmission systems including cellular and personal communication systems, satellite systems, and radio relay links.
|
Prerequisites
Estimation theory, electrical communications
|
Syllabus
The general characteristics of the simulation model of wireless transmission systems are described, general principles of simulating communication systems are emphasized, and particular constructs for modeling propagation channels and system components (such as filters, modulators/demodulators, encoders/decoders, nonlinear amplifiers, and synchronization structures) are presented. Techniques for estimating performance parameters are introduced, with particular emphasis on error probability estimators, showing with laboratory projects how they can be used to perform computed aided design of transmission systems. A laboratory project is developed.
|
Laboratories and/or exercises
4 hours of software lab. are held every week The Matlab tool is employed.
