Objectives of the course
This module deals with ICT technologies applied to distributed control systems for industrial and manufacturing environments. In particular, the most popular solutions are described for real-time industrial communications, such as industrial Ethernet and fieldbus networks, highlighting their most important features. Moreover, the basic principles of SCADA systems are introduced, as well as the programming techniques for developing PC-based HMI interfaces devoted to supervisory and process management applications. At last, some recent solutions for achieving real-time communications in automotive systems are described, taking care of investigating the dependability and determinisms issues found in x-by-wire applications.
