Objectives of the course
The course aims to provide Electrical Engineering students the basic concepts of operation ed size of the plants for the conversion of hydraulic power into electricity.
Fundamental knowledge of Mathematical Analysis and Mechanics.
The course has two parts. The first, propaedeutic, aims to provide the basic hydraulics and is thus divided:
Phisical characteristics of liquids, hydrostatic, forces on flat and curve surfaces, Euler kinematics, perfect and real fluid dynamics, conservation theorems of energy and momentum. Laminar and turbulent motion in pipes and channels. Transient motions, water hammer.
The second part is relative to power plants sizing and working. Hydrology, types of power plants, criteria of sizing, components.
