Knowledge of personal computer and computer graphics basics.
This course will focus on the fundamentals of Virtual and augmented Reality and provide extended laboratory exposure. The course objective is to promote the understanding of this technologies, underlying principles, their potential and limits and to learn about the criteria for defining useful applications. Furthermore, students will be exposed to the process of creating virtual environments, by developing a VR application and the integration of video and computer graphics 3D effects. Course topics include:

' Review of essential principles
' Classification of the environments
' Human-computer interaction
' Virtual reality device technology
' Multi-modal interaction feedback
' Real-time visualization
' 3D effects
Laboratories and/or exercises
During the laboratory exercitations the students will develop an application for real time 3D graphics and the creation of 3D special effects for video compositing.
