Objectives of the course
Analysis and design of DC-to-DC switchmode power converters, averaged and linearized models, design of their control circuitry.
Syllabus
Basic DC-to-DC converter topologies: buck, boost, bouck-boost in continuous and discontinuous conduction mode (in steadty state) properties and characteristics. Averaging and linearization of basic topologies, small signal model and transfer functions (CCM and DCM). Design of the closed loop system, using PI and PID compensators for voltage mode control. Current mode control and its small signal model. Compensation with a PI compensator. Loop gain measurement. Isolated topologies derived from buck and buck-boost. Complete design of DC-to-DC converters.

Measurementss on open loop DC-to-DC converters, design and implementation of compensators, and measurements of closed loop DC-to-DC converters
