To the work placement and the ensuing final exam, which entails the discussing of a degree thesis, great importance will be given to the professional contents and for the possibility that it offers the students of having a practical experience in a company which will then prove valuable when they enter the working world. Only exceptionally will a company work placement be replaced by a work placement in a University department.
Even though the work placement leads to the acquiring of the same number of credits, it has a differing duration that can vary from about twelve weeks, for students who intend to conclude their universitary education attaining a three-year Batchelors degree, to about eight weeks for those students who opt to continue their studies in order to attain a Specialist five-year degree and who will carry out a second work placement of a significant duration at the conclusion of this cycle. Each student chooses the topic to develop during the work placement from a list in which is also indicated the company where it will take place and the name of a company tutor. This person will follow the student during the course of the work placement and in the drawing up of a report of the activity carried out, to express judgement on the commitment shown by the student and of the achieved results.
The work placement report forms a reference for the formal evaluation of the work placement and, by regulations, for the drawing up of the graduation thesis. The aforementioned will be discussed having as a President a Lecturer belonging to the study course, that is to say, a lecturer to whom during the three years, has been entrusted the teaching of a module. In the exceptional case of a work placement being carried out in a Department of the University the referent, for both the work placement activity and the completion of the degree thesis will be an official Lecturer of the Study Course.
