The course will cover in total five (5) credits, it is addressed primarily to PhD students, and it will be offered in two modules:
(i) Basic module, three (3) credits, with the detailed program is in the next section of this document, and
(ii) Advanced module, two (2) credits, with the basic module as a prerequisite; the detailed program is in a different document. The course grade is 'Pass / Fail' for both modules.

Each attendee of the Basic Module is expected to do a presentation of representative important papers, published in recent major ACM and IEEE venues and journals, relevant to the course topics.

The two modules of the course will try to cover essentially all aspects of wireless system security during one semester. The material is roughly split into two ten units, distilling recent results that cover building blocks and fundamental aspects of wireless system security.

The lectures of the two modules will cover topics including: (i) Trust Management, (ii) Data Link, (iii) Anti-jamming, (iv) Secure Neighbor Discovery, (v) Ranging, Distance Bounding, (vi) Secure Routing, (vii) Secure Communication, (viii) Device Identification, (ix) Secure Localization, (x) Security Architectures for Complex Wireless Systems.

Across the course topics, where it fits best, an effort will be made to emphasize practical aspects, especially in the advanced module. In particular, we will seek to get close views on existing systems and their security mechanisms. For example, the security for widely deployed technologies and systems, such as Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11x, 2G/3G cellular telephony, as well as the use of Internet technologies for nomadic computing (mobile IP), but also possibly RFID tags and specialized systems (e.g., TETRA).
