Contents
The course in Strategy Technology and Marketing is meant to i) introduce students to the fundamental concepts and principles of strategy and equip students with the tools they need to formulate and implement business and corporate strategies in the technological domain, ii) give students a comprehensive understanding of the key role of marketing in a technological innovation strategy iii) provide students with a comprehensive understanding of innovation and innovation dynamics and give them the basic concepts of management of innovation at the core of strategic decision making in technological fields.
Texts, readings, handouts and other learning resources
The textbook for the course is:
M. Schilling, Strategic Management of Technological Innovation, 3rd Edition (International edition), McGraw-Hill.
Highly recommended books are:
R.M. Grant and J. Jordan, Foundations of Strategy, Wiley.
P. Kotler and G. Armstrong, Principles of marketing, 14th Edition, Prentice Hall .

Additional material, slides, notes, links, readings will be provided on course website, whenever possible according to copyright laws.
Assessment and grading criteria
The final exam consists of a written and an oral examination. The oral examination is optional. In case a student decides not to take the oral examination, the upper bound for the final grade is twenty-four. The written exam consists of open questions about theory and case studies. The oral examination is based on case studies discussion and additional questions related to theory. Students also have the possibility to gain a bonus of one or two points by means of the so-called best example competition. Students are challenged to find good (better) examples and short stories related to the topics dealt with during the lectures. Students wishing to join the competition are required to send their suggestions to the address techstrategypolito@gmail.com. The example or story must be explained in a maximum of 500 characters and should include at list one link to relevant websites.
