"Know how to draw" is how to play a musical instrument or practice a sport: it allows you to acquire a discipline, and at the same time improves self-knowledge and how to express yourself.
The drawing is the language of the architect: he thinks, designs, communicates exclusively in visual and graphic way. And Drawing from life is an irreplaceable instrument of critical analysis and knowledge, the most effective means of understanding the nature of things and the rules of architecture.
Because Drawing is an autonomous, complete, complex and articulate formal language that can be manifested, expressed (and therefore designed) according to various and precise declarations inherent in discipline, each with its own characteristics.
One must not underestimate the importance of continuous and constant exercise, even through artifice of the "copy", which is practicable especially on historical models of Masters in art and architecture, critically selected. Some of these Masters argue that you cannot teach how to draw, you can only learn to draw what we have inside, and that we must find out in us.
The workshop will provide the basic knowledge (theoretical and technical) related to Drawing, its realization and its applications in the analysis and in the project of Architecture, City, Landscape.
It is also important to remember that Drawing for life (or freehand) has the purpose of controlling space by means of "prospective modes", able to render plausible the restitution of the partial view in natural visual perception. This theme is in turn related to that of geometric matrices (essential to the composition of the image, even in architecture), of the proportions and dimensions and their "viewing" estimate, up to drawing for the measurement.
In conclusion, the fundamental professionalizing aspect is in the possibility (which only the Drawing allows) to project and to show the formal and spatial idea of the project in all possible ways: from the simplest, basic and elementary to the more complex and detailed, declinable in all its perceptions (material, functional, symbolic, and so on). And along with that, ensure their control, in formal and technical outcomes.
In this way, education (educate oneself) at the "Drawing" becomes an adventure that will never end, for life, professional and not.
