The project activity is focused on the Herd, part of the protected areas system Ente Regionale Royal Parks; considering the context of the wide and local area strategies (spatial plans and regional and metropolitan landscape, plan area of the park, PRG Communities of the Park Community), student groups will provide input to develop policies, actions and interventions aimed at innovating the perception of the park's role in the context of the territory and to promote socio-economic development. In particular, attention will be paid to the construction of strategies between the system of degraded historical and cultural heritage (historic farmsteads) and territories of excellence (Reggia di Venaria, the Castle, etc.), Among the fruitive activities of the park and activities aimed at green economy in the context, as well as between policies for ecological reticularity and those for the use (networks and pathways), with attention to the redesign of the park entrances. For image innovation and the role of the park as "Company of the territory" it will be necessary reflect on the presence of different activities and not integrated: a gated-residential community and its golf club, the system of agricultural activities, the services for use and the different productive activities (from small businesses to industrial areas, including the still active and incongruous that besieges the park and the Royal Palace).
The goal is to imagine System transformative projects, from large-scale to the urban planning, with attention to the accessibility redesign the park and to the diversification of the tourist area (hotels, camping, etc.) To build new economies.
Delivery modes
The teaching methods include single and multi-disciplinary lectures, with the participation of external invited speakers (technical, public administrators, experts in specific fields, etc.). Visits and guided tours that will help to interpret the project context mainly in the classroom (and, if applicable, in computer labs). We will also verify periodically the design progresses.
Texts, readings, handouts and other learning resources
Bibliographical references will be specified during the course by the lecturers and in relation to the specific design needs of the Atelier. In any case, the base material will be available to students for lessons and exercises, through the teaching portal.
Assessment and grading criteria
The frequency of the Atelier is a condition to develop positively the work.
The knowledge will be verified through the discussion of the different documents developed during the course, including any written tests and interviews which shall deal with the theoretical and applied aspects of the different disciplines of the Atelier. The student takes the exam individually within their group. The final evaluation takes into account the individual participation in group work, in relation to the reading skills and critical interpretation of the context under investigation, completeness, correctness and quality of the final project elaborated; the effectiveness of their representation and argumentative clarity the public presentation and discussion of the results. Only students that overcome sufficient judgment in both Atelier disciplines can take part of the exam.
